Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Atmiş, in the meeting titled "Forests for Social Cohesion"
The 15th World Congress on Forestry, which has been organized for every six years by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) since 1926, was held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, from May 2-6, 2022. 15 thousand people from 146 countries participated in the congress held with the theme of "Building a Green, Healthy and Resilient Future with Forests".
Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Atmiş, a faculty member of the Department of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Forestry, Bartin University, was the only academician representing Turkey among the 327 people invited as speakers to the congress. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Atmiş, in the meeting titled "Forests for Social Cohesion"; Asst. Prof. Dr. H. Batuhan Günşen and Yıldıray Lise together presented the paper titled "Gender Differentiation in Rural Development and Cooperatives of Turkey: Women's Empowerment from Production to Organization", which was prepared by examining rural women's cooperatives in Turkey.
This congress was the fourth FAO World Forestry Congress in which Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Atmış participated to present a paper. Prof. Atmış was previously invited to present papers to the world forestry congresses held in Antalya/Turkey in 1997, Buenos Aires/Argentina in 2009 and Durban/South Africa in 2015 and presented his papers on forest-community relations, rural development and cooperatives and urban forestry.
